On Saturday October 6th, 2016 Rowan County Animal Shelter held its first ever Special Discounted Adoption Event as approved by the Rowan County
Board of Commissioners. The event was a huge success with every available animal being adopted to new homes!
We thank the Commissioners for their support, the wonderful new volunteers that we have, and the dedicated staff of Rowan County Animal Shelter.

Recent Failed Inspection by NC Department of Agriculture
As many citizens may be aware, the Rowan County shelter recently failed an regular inspection conducted by the NCDA. This is not something that we feel good about and it is something that we take very seriously. Our goal is to provide the best quality service and shelter that we can to the citizens of Rowan. As the Director, it is my job to see that this happens.
With an inspection comes a detailed criticism from the state on what issues they found and feel need to be addressed. It is then our responsibility to address those issues and provide a detailed response as to how we will address them.
We have done that as of yesterday (12-2-16). Rowan County Animal Shelter belongs to the citizens of Rowan County. You should be aware of how we intend to address those concerns.

Thank you for your interest in Rowan County Animal Shelter.

ANIMAL SHELTER VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Rowan County Animal Shelter is looking for a few good volunteers!
We would like to announce the opening of our new volunteer program at the Animal Shelter. We are seeking a few individuals that want to help us
with our efforts to care for our animals at the shelter, and help to find them new forever homes and help us provide education to the public. Our long term goal is to have a large
list of volunteers with talents and dedication to help us accomplish these goals. Initially we will take a few to help us get the process started and then grow from there.
We will select from our applications based on talents, experience, and availability that fits into our shelter's needs.
If you have an interest, you should download our application (Click Here for Word Format) (Click here for PDF Format), complete it and return for review.
Completed applications can be returned to the shelter by email to email@example.com , faxed to 704 638-3998, or mailed to the above address,
or dropped off at the front desk during open hours at either the cat or dog wing of the shelter.
If you do not have the ability to print out at home, you may simply drop by the shelter and pick one up. Based on volume of interest,
staff will review and contact selected applicants for orientation. Volunteers must complete the same vetting process as employee new hires. This will
include criminal background check, driving record check, and a pre-volunteering drug test.
