Building Code Enforcement

GovernmentThe Building Code Enforcement Department is dedicated to ensuring safety to all Rowan County citizens by enforcing the North Carolina State Building Code. Our inspectors are authorized by the North Carolina General Statues to enforce the State Building Codes.

We are responsible for Building, Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical Inspections and Permits as well as Building Plans Review. We also issue set up permits for Manufactured Homes and Modular Builds.

Effective date:  April 1, 2013
For:  Residential & Commercial

Braced Wall Calculator
Use to help calculate required BWP
total lengths per wall.  (NCRC 610)

 Exceptions:
1) Projects costing less than $30,000
2) Additions to a home used as a residence
by the property owner
3) Projects where the the first delivery of materials
     or labor to the jobsite was prior to April 1, 2013.

Note:  Rowan County offers
OPTIONAL PLAN REVIEW
to assist contractors in complying with
the Wall Bracing requirements of
NCRC 610.  Call for appointment.
