Frank T. Thomason, formerly the Director of Telecommunications for Rowan County has been named Director of the Emergency Services Department effective March 1, 2004. He succeeds Wayne Ashworth who retired effective December 31, 2003.
Thomason is a 17 year veteran with Rowan County Government, originally joining as a Communications Supervisor for the county's first 9-1-1- center which ironically was originally located in the Emergency Services Headquarters building from 1987 to 1993.
Thomason was promoted to Director of the Telecommunications Department in 1993, and brought statewide and national recognition to the county for his efforts. In addition to his work with the county Thomason is an active member of the Franklin Fire Department serving on their Board of Directors and Deputy Chief. "To have been considered and ultimately selected for this position is an honor," Thomason said. "I look forward to working with all the public safety agencies in Rowan County and its municipalities, and progressing emergency services forward."
