Flu vaccinations are by appointment only. Call 704-216-8782 to schedule an appointment. If you get voice mail, leave one message (staff are answering other calls). Calls will be returned and appointments scheduled in the order in which they are received. Medicaid, Medicare Part B and Railroad Medicare are accepted. If paying in cash, please bring exact amount. Please bring your Social Security cards. Cost of Flu Vaccine is $17.00. Pneumonia vaccine is available for $30.00. 

 


 Prevent Child Abuse

  Visit Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina , the only statewide, nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect in all its forms. You can view the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Social Services, Child Protective Services Assessment Findings for Children in Rowan County for the State Fiscal Year 2005-2006.


Smoke Free Rowan

 Smoke Free Rowan encourages local businesses and organizations to voluntarily adopt an indoor smoke-free policy. The benefits of an indoor smoke-free environment are many. Over 40% of restaurants in Rowan county are smoke-free. Click here to learn more about joining Smoke Free Rowan.

Prenatal Clinic Nurse

Selena Bell is a Registered Nurse who has been with the health department for almost 16 years. Selena loves being part of a close-knit team working in the Maternal Health program.  Her experience is invaluable and she is well liked by her co-workers and by her patients. Selena is married and has two children.

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome

Birth Defects

Per the March of Dimes, about 120,000 babies (1 in 33) in the United States are born each year with birth defects. A birth defect is an abnormality of structure, function or metabolism (body chemistry) present at birth that results in physical or mental disabilities or death. Several thousand different birth defects have been identified. Birth defects are the leading cause of death in the first year of life. Pertussis

Learn about Pertussis, a highly communicable, vaccine-preventable disease that lasts for many weeks and is typically found in children with convulsive spasms of severe coughing, whooping, and post-cough vomiting. It is important that if your child has symptoms they are seen by a doctor, properly diagnosed and promptly treated.
