Novel H1N1 (also known as swine flu) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza viruses that causes regular outbreaks in pigs. People do not normally get swine flu, but human infections can and do happen. As of July 2, 2009 there are two-hundred fifty-six (256) confirmed cases of Novel H1N1 in North Carolina, and two (2) confirmed case in Rowan County. A plan of action has been initiated to help lessen the impact of the Novel H1N1 Flu on North Carolinians and Rowan County residents.
