The Department of Planning & Development contains both the Planning and the Building Inspections Departments. The Planning Department is responsible for the issuance of zoning permits, subdivision review, geographic 
information systems (GIS), land use planning and the enforcement of the Zoning, Subdivision, Erosion and Sedimentation and Flood Damage Prevention ordinances. The Building Inspections Department is responsible for Building, Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical Inspections as well as Building Plans Review and Weekly Building Reports.
