Catch the Reading Bug as RPL kicks off its summer reading program Saturday, June 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Children can enjoy crafts and games at all library locations.
At RPL’s East Branch in Rockwell, special guest Cathy Cress Eller will take part in the kick-off activities there. Eller, a local author, will read from her book Carnella Caterpillar: Jeepers Creepers, and sign copies.
Following the kick-off, summer reading swings into high gear the week of June 15, with performances each week for all age groups:
Butterflies—ages 12-24 months: at 10:30 a.m. on Mondays at East, Tuesdays at Headquarters, and Thursdays at South, for 4 weeks.
Spiders—2 year olds: at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at East, Wednesdays at South, and Thursdays at Headquarters, for 4 weeks.
Grasshoppers—3-5 year olds: at 10:30 a.m. on Mondays at South, Wednesdays at Headquarters, and Thursdays at East, for 7 weeks.
Entomologists— Rising 1st-5th graders: at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at South, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays at East; and at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesdays at Headquarters. Performers for seven weeks, in order of appearance, are: Rags to Riches Theater Troupe, Willie Claflin, Captain Jim--A Real Pirate, Flow’s Circus, RO & LO, Marian the Librarian, and Ron Gulledge.
