  Animal Sciences - Provided through NC-LIVE, this inter-disciplinary e-book "explores the wide-ranging diversity that exists within the animal kingdom."

ARKive - The world's centralised digital library of films, photographs and associated recordings of species, accessible to all via the world wide web.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Digital Library - This wonderful collection of wildlife images is easy to search. Photos, illustrations, and other image types are included.  

General

  Gale Encyclopedia of Science - An e-book provided through NC-Live

MegaConverter 2  - Instantly convert from unit to another, e.g. inches to meters, Fahrenheit to Celsius, etc. 

New Scientist.Com - Articles and information cover a wide variety of the latest issues and controversies in science today

African Americans in Science  -  An excellent collection of biographies, indexed alphabetically or by profession.

Chemical Elements - Click on an element's symbol  in this interactive periodic table to learn more about that element. Includes nicely illustrated atomic structure models.

EnvironmentalChemistry.com's Periodic Table - Click on an element's symbol or atomic number to learn more. Elements can be sorted according to their characteristics and properties.

  Pollution A to Z - An e-book provided through NC-LIVE.  "Provides the latest information on a variety of pollution issues, including sources, disposal, remediation, the ethical, social, and legal environment, careers, and much more."

  U*X*L Encyclopedia of Biomes - An e-book provided through NC-LIVE.  "This set offers students and researchers comprehensive and easy-to-use information on 12 of the Earth's major biomes and its many component ecosystems."

  U*X*L Encyclopedia of Landforms and Other Geologic Features - An e-book provided through NC-LIVE.  "Focuses on the physical and geological aspects, structure, and features of 48 of the earth's landforms... Written for middle school student o support earth science and landform-related assignments."

  Soil Data Mart From the United States Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service.  Select a state to obtain soil data and information for that area. Data available for one soil survey area at a time.  

  Water: Science and Issues - An e-book provided through NC-LIVE.  "Integrates key concepts, current issues, traditional and emerging research, and major legislation in three subject areas: fresh water, marine waters, and policy and management."

 

Coolmath.com -  Dedicated to making mathematics enjoyable, this site offers great examples to help explain concepts like fractions and exponentials.  Also check out the amazing calculator page.

How Much is That? - Track and compare the purchasing power of the dollar through time;  track inflation and exchange rates

Math.com - Games, practice exercises, calculators, tables, and formulas.
