Check It Out - Yourself - at SRRL
The South Rowan Regional Library now offers patrons the added convenience of self-service checkout. The new self check system debuted on August 1st.
The self-checkout system also allows library borrowers to pay library fees with cash or credit cards. Library staff is available to help customers try it out and get used to the system.
How does Self Check Work?
The system uses radio frequency identification, or RFID, which puts library material information into a radio tag on each book or audiovisual material.
Patrons scan their library cards, and the system confirms their name and basic information. The customer then puts their materials on the desktop antenna, which reads the material radio tag. The system will automatically check out materials and print a date due receipt.
