The Art of Being Human

What’s on your reading list for this spring and summer? Why not add four intriguing books that make up the 2010 Summer Reading Challenge?

The Art of Being Human is the theme for the 6th annual community-wide Summer Reading Challenge, hosted by Rowan Public Library and The Waterworks Visual Arts Center.

Explore the art of being human as you read, or reread, Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley; Distracted: The Erosion of Attention and the Coming Dark Age by Maggie Jackson; Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout; and Unsuspecting Souls: The Disappearance of the Human Being by Barry Sanders.

RPL has copies of each book available for checkout.

Also, mark your calendars for the free public reception and panel discussion on Tuesday, October 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Waterworks Visual Arts Center and the adjoining F& M Trolley Barn.

This program is brought to you by Rowan Public LibraryWaterworks Visual Arts Center, Friends of Rowan Public Library, Literary Bookpost, Catawba College, Livingstone College, and the Salisbury Post.
