The service can help protect seniors from self-neglect, abuse, exploitation and avoid premature placement in long term care facilities. - Level II: Moderate Personal Care Tasks: In addition to home management tasks, Aides can help with baths, assist with personal grooming and give medication reminders.
- Level III: Intensive Personal Care Tasks: At this level a Certified Nursing Assistant can give baths, perform personal care tasks, change diapers and assist with ambulation.
- Respite for the Caregiver: For many caregivers, there may not be a need for home management or personal care tasks; but there is a great need for having a break in the care-giving role. This service can provide in-home respite.
Summary of In-Home Aide Service
- The Department contracts with several home care agencies, which are properly licensed and accredited to administer In-Home Aide services.
- There is generally a waiting list of seniors asking for this service. For that reason the care management staff will thoroughly assess every request, and give higher priority to the seniors who have the greatest need and the least amount of resources to obtain the service.
- On average, a client of this program will receive 1 to 3 aide visits per week with a total of 2 to 6 hours of service.
