SENIOR SERVICES

Things you may want to know are:

1. The logo stands for Senior Health Insurance Information Program. This is a statewide project that was developed by the NC Insurance Commissioners Office.
   
2. This information program provides unbiased assistance in understanding:
   
   • Medicare regulations and policies
   • Medicare Supplemental Insurance Programs
   • Long Term Care Insurance
   • Medicare Part D, Prescription Drug Progam
     
     
3. The service is organized around Senior Volunteers who are willing to participate in extensive and continuing training to help other seniors understand these topics.
   
4. If the volunteers encounter any difficulties in answering questions and explaining benefits they have very good access to state officials who have expertise in all subject matter.
   
5. To arrange a SHIIP appointment with a volunteer, call Senior Services.
