SENIOR SERVICES

Assistive Technology is any piece of equipment or device that can help a person to minimize the barriers that come with a disability. By minimizing the barriers we can make everyday living easier and we can live more independently. 

Senior Services started a lending closet, that is comprised of devices to assist the visual and hearing impaired, with a seed grant from the Salisbury Altrusa Club. The benefit of a lending closet is that any older adult can borrow items  to make sure it is something that a person would use before they make a major purchase. We will also advise a person on where to make the purchase of the product at the best price. 

The loan period can be up to 30 days if needed.  If necessary, a one time extension of two weeks may be granted at the discretion of Senior Services  staff.

Pill Time	Container with belt/purse clip. Holds pills; has 4 different alarm settings to remind to take medication
Tel-RX Prescription Recorder	For sight or memory impaired. Recorder attaches to medicine bottle - gives verbal prompt to take medication as prescribed
Signature Guide - Metal	Helps writer stay within lines when signing checks, contracts, etc.
Super Portable Telephone Amp	Small device slips on phone handset to amplify; good to use for vacations, hotel stays, etc.
Dress EZ	Helps remove items from closet and get dressed with minimal bending or stretching
Flexible Sock & Stocking Aid	Assists with putting socks/stockings on without bending or stretching
EZ Shoe-On	Assists with putting shoes on without bending or stretching
8 dram MEDIFIER	Magnifier wraps around small pill bottle
Shoe Remover	Assists with removing shoes without bending or stretching
Telephone Signaler (flashes lamp)	Light flashes when phone rings
Rotating one hand Button & Zipper Aid	Useful for dressing with one hand after stroke or amputation
Bed/couch push-up bar	Provides support when sitting or rising from bed/couch
Check Writing Guide	Helps writer stay within lines when writing checks
Large Envelope Writing Guide	Keeps words in straight line
