A Message from the Director
Rowan County Department of Social Services (DSS) provides a diverse scope of human services. Our staff of 175 dedicated employees collectively touch the lives of more than 30,000 Rowan County citizens with one or more of those services. We are stewards of over ninety million tax dollars. We have a tremendously big and important work in our community, that has far-reaching effects, but we cannot do our job without the help of many others. We depend on our colleagues in other county and community agencies and organizations, as well as concerned citizens, to be our partners in providing safety for our county's children, in enabling parents to become responsible, in helping the unemployed become self-sufficient, and in assuring that our elderly receive the care needed.
Our staff thanks each of you - a concerned citizen, an elected official, a community partner - for the part you play in supporting our efforts. The goal of Rowan County DSS is continuous improvement in our response to human service needs and, with that in mind, I encourage you to contact any member of the DSS
