ADULT AND FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES DIVISION:
ADULT MEDICAID UNIT:
- Cap Care: a program that provides elderly/disabled adults services/medical care within their own home to prevent long-term placement
- Crisis Intervention Program (CIP): financial help to households for heating/cooling emergencies
- Food Stamp Program: a program that aids individuals/families in purchasing food for their households
- Intake (Adult Medicaid): the initial contact with a Medicaid caseworker regarding an application for all Medicaid programs.
- Long-Term Care (nursing home) Medicaid: a program that helps with the cost of care in a nursing home.
- Medicaid (Adult): a program that helps pay medical/ nursing home bills for certain aged, blind and/or disabled adults
- Medicare Qualified Beneficiaries (MQB): a special Medicaid program that supplements Medicare deductibles and co-payments and/or pays Medicare premiums
- Special Assistance: a program that assists with the payment for Adult Care Home placement and for medical care
- Medicaid Transportation: a service provided by Rowan County for medically-related transportation for Medicaid recipients. Clients must be authorized for full Medicaid, and the destination (doctor, hospital, drug store, etc.) must be for a Medicaid-covered service or visit. An assessment must be completed by the Medicaid Transporation Coordinator, who will then explain how to access the program to eligible clients.
Family planning waiver services are provided to women aged 19 to 55, and men aged 19 to 60, who are not sterile and are not Medicare eligible. These services include an annual family planning exam with pap smear and breast exam for women and a testicular exam for men, most methods of birth control (pills, patches, shots), screening and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, HIV screening, and sterilizations for men and women over age 21.
ADULT SERVICES UNIT:
- Adult Care Home Case Management: services provided to Adult Care Home residents who receive Special Assistance and who need toileting, feeding and/or ambulation assistance
- Adult Care Home Licensure/Monitoring: services provided to Adult Care Home staff and residents in licensing the facilities, monitoring the facility to see that State regulations are followed and investigating Adult Care Home complaints
- Adult Day Care Services: services provided to monitor adult day care centers in order to ensure program quality and to provide limited funding and also case management services to disabled adults needing the program but unable to pay
- Adult Protective Services: services to evaluate disabled adults who are alleged to be abused, neglected or exploited and in need of protection. Treatment is provided as appropriate
- Guardianship Services: services provided to incompetent adults in which the Director of the Department of Social Services has been named guardian by the Clerk of Court
- In-Home Aide Services: services to assist disabled adults who are unable to provide for their personal care or home tasks
- Intake Services (Adult): services to assist disabled adults/elderly in assessing their needs and in linking them with community resources
- Long-Term Care Placement Services: services to aid disabled adults/elderly and their families in placement of the disabled adult into long term
- Services for the Blind: services provided to visually impaired Rowan County residentsresidential care
CHILD SUPPORT UNIT:
- Child Support: services to establish and enforce court orders to financially support children whose parents are no longer together
