Checking Out Materials
At Rowan Public Library (RPL), most library materials check out for 2 weeks.
Items may be renewed online or via phone. Items may be renewed twice for an additional 2 weeks each if there are no holds on them. Once the renewal limit has been reached, the items will need to returned to the nearest branch. If there are no requests for the items, they may once again check them out.
To view your account, renew items, check due dates and view any fines, log in here with your library card number and pin.
Returning an Item
Most materials may be returned at any library location. Outside book returns are available for returns when libraries are closed. You may return any library items to any of the four Rowan Public Library branches.
Some popular items can be checked out as "Rentals" if you wish to skip the wait line to read them. Initial check out of rental items is 1 week. Rentals are checked out for $2.00 for one week or $4.00 for two weeks. Please indicate when checking out if you want one week or two. An extended rental charge of $1.00 a day per item will be applied if item is not returned by the due date. Please bring the item back to a branch to renew.
All proceeds from rentals go to Friends of the Rowan Public Library to support the library.
Material Late Fees / Fines
If your items are returned late, your account will be charged $0.20 per day per item. If your account shows more than $2.00 in fines you may be restricted from renewing your items, placing holds, accessing digital resources, or using the computer. If you need to check on the status of your account, you may view your account online or contact the nearest branch below.
Most items are $0.20 cents per day, per item. Once items have become overdue, you may call to renew items over the phone or drop in to any branch to renew. You may pay your fines using cash, Applepay credit, or debit, and you may pay in-person or over the phone.
Placing a Hold on an Item
Items may be placed on hold online or by phone and notification can be sent text, email or phone. Notification will be sent to you when item is ready for pick-up. Once notified by phone, text, or email, the items will be held for 3 days.
Curbside pick-up is available at all of its branches during open hours. When you arrive in the parking lot of your branch of choice, call the number listed on the sign to let staff know you are there. Requested and materials on hold will be checked out to the card holder's account and brought to your vehicle for convenience and safety. Print jobs requested may also be delivered curbside.
