If a septic system is failing, a Repair Permit is likely needed. No repairs other than routine maintenance may be installed without a repair permit. This is to ensure the health and safety of all occupants, surrounding neighbors, streams, drinking water sources and more. To apply for a Repair Permit, the property owner must fill out an application in the office or download the application(pdf) and email it to Environmental Health. If you are not the property owner, you may still apply for the permit with authorization from the owner. This document can be obtained in the office or by downloading the Authorization Form(pdf.) There is no fee for Rowan County Environmental Health to make a site visit and issue a permit for repair.
