Detention Annex

About the Facility

The Rowan County Detention Annex is an indirect supervision facility which opened for occupancy on July 8, 2012. The Annex is located at 400 Grace Church Road, Salisbury, NC. The facility was designed to house 160 sentenced and pre-trial male inmates.  Inmates housed at the Annex are classified as minimum-medium security risk. 

The Annex houses a medical component, kitchen area, laundry area and various support services. The Annex utilizes a video visitation system for inmates to visit with family and friends while incarcerated. The Annex facility is commanded by a lieutenant and operated by four crews lead by a Master Detention Officer each working a day or night 12 hour rotation.

Building Areas

  • 1 non-contact visitation area utilized for attorney and professional law enforcement visits.
  • 4, 40 man dormitory style housing units utilized for general housing.
  • An admission/release area utilized for all inmate transfers in and out of the facility for court and to the main facility.

Transfers & Releases

All inmate transfers and releases are handled at the main jail in Salisbury.

Visitation

Visitation days and times are the same for the annex as the main jail.

Mail

All mail for inmates at the annex facility is to be mailed to the main jail.
