The Rowan County Parks and Recreation Department’s Therapeutic Recreation Division will sponsor its 29th annual Statewide Visually Impaired Putt Putt Golf Tournament on April 8 on two disability-compliant Putt Putt courses at Dan Nicholas Park

The park is eight miles southeast of Salisbury.

The tournament will begin at 10 a.m. Each participant will shoot 36 holes of golf.

About 80 golfers and 70 volunteers from across North Carolina are expected at this year’s tournament. Volunteers will work as guides to assist the participants with lining up their putts, describing the course and pointing out obstacles.

An awards ceremony will follow the tournament. Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place in each sight division as well as for the most holes-in-one in each division. Team trophies will be awarded to the top two teams.

Sight divisions are legally blind, having some sight and able to make out images and light; and totally blind, with no light perception or ability to see images.

Registration for both participants and volunteers closes at 5 p.m. Friday. The entry fee is $5 per person. Lunch will be provided for all participants and volunteers after the tournament. Lunch will be available for spectators, family, and friends for $5 per person.

For more information or to register, contact the Therapeutic Recreation Division at 704-216-7780.
