Rowan County’s Active COVID Cases and Positivity Rate Continue to Escalate

With our number of cases and our positivity rate for testing continuing to increase daily, Rowan County Public Health cannot emphasize to you enough about the importance of getting vaccinated, which is the best way to protect yourself and those you come in contact with. With that said, you can use the CDC’s vaccine finder to help find a number of local agencies/businesses that are also offering COVID vaccines within Rowan County, such as:

  • Novant Health at the J. F. Hurley YMCA; Walk-ins are accepted Wednesdays and Fridays; 8 am – 5 pm
  • Larger chain pharmacies: CVS and Walgreens
  • Grocery Stores: Walmart, Food Lion (Salisbury and China Grove), Sam’s Club
  • Local pharmacies: Moose Pharmacy, The Medicine Shoppe, and Cannon Pharmacy
  • Provider offices: Rowan County Public Health, Rowan Diagnostic Clinic, Pro Med, and Salisbury Pediatric (only for established patients)

To find out more information about which vaccines are being offered and when they are being offered, please contact the agency/business directly. It is important to know that when seeking out a COVID vaccine for your child, any child younger than 12 is not currently eligible to receive a vaccine. However, if your child is 12 years old and older, they can receive the following vaccines based on their age:

  • Pfizer Vaccine (ages 12-15)
  • Comirnaty (age 16+)
  • Moderna Vaccine (age 18+)
  • Johnson and Johnson (age 18+)

Also, at this time and under your physician’s guidance, the following locations in Rowan County are also offering the additional dose of a mRNA COVID-19 vaccine to those individuals that have a moderate to severe immunocompromised immune system:

  1. Novant Health YMCA clinic
  2. The Medicine Shoppe
  3. Moose Pharmacy
  4. CVS and Walgreens
  5. Rowan County Public Health (Call 704-216-8777 and choose option 3 for an appointment)

In closing, please note that Rowan County Public Health has extended their Summer Cash Card Program until Monday, September 13th to anyone who comes in for their first COVID-19 Vaccination. If you and/or your child still need to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, please feel free to call 704-216-8837 to make an appointment.
