The Rowan County Parks and Recreation Department’s Therapeutic Recreation Division is proud to sponsor its 31st Annual State-wide Visually Impaired Miniature Golf Tournament. We would like to invite your participants who are visually impaired or blind to join us at this tournament. The entry fee is $5.00 per person. Lunch will be provided free of charge for all participants and volunteers following the tournament. Lunch will be available for spectators, family/friends, etc for $5.00 per person.
The tournament will once again be held on our ADA compliant miniature golf courses. The tournament will begin at 10:00am at Dan Nicholas Park which is located 8 miles southeast of Salisbury. Check in will begin at 8:45am, and all teams should be checked in by 9:30am. Each participant will shoot 36 holes of golf. The rules of the tournament are included.
Trophies will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each sight division as well as for the most holes-in-one in each division. Team trophies will be awarded to the top 2 teams. Sight divisions: A-Legally Blind; has some sight-can make out images and light, and B-Totally Blind; no light perception or images.
Volunteers ARE NEEDED to work as sighted guides to assist the participants with lining up the putts, describing the layout of the course, pointing out obstacles, obtaining lunch, and any other capacity needed; to set-up & break down event, registration, scoring, or course monitors. All registering counties with 5 or more players are asked to provide volunteers. Please be aware that counties providing volunteers will be randomly assigned to other players. Volunteer check-in 8:15am promptly.
