  1. Adults: Tails & Tales Short Story Contest

    Do you enjoy writing short fiction? Do your stories include animals? Would you like to win an award certificate and a gift basket from Salisbury's Critters Gift Shop? If so, then the "Tails & Tales Short Story Contest" is for you! Writers ages 18 and older are eligible for this contest that runs from June 1 to July 16. Contenders are short stories that feature an animal as a prominent character or offer an animals perspective. Eligible entries must be original works of prose in English that do not exceed 5,000 words. Limit of one submission per author. Submissions must be in PDF format and emailed to by 5pm on Friday, July 16, and must include a cover page with the author's name and current contact information. Do not include the author's name on the actual story. Judges are not allowed to see the author's name. Submissions that do not follow the guidelines are automatically disqualified. The winner will be notified on August 2. Adults.

  2. Children: Tails & Tales Storytime @ East

    This RPL-staffed program is designed for children ages 10 and under. Weekly, in-person storytimes begin at 10:30 am and last approximately 30 minutes. Storytimes will be held outside; in the case of inclement weather, programs will move inside. A responsible caretaker (16+) must accompany children 8 and under. Children.

  3. Family: Meet the Dare Devil Dogs @ South

    Meet the amazing Dare Devil Dogs and watch this K-9 Frisbee and diving show perform live! Each branch will host two performances of this talented, four-legged crew at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on their respective day. "Meet the Dare Devil Dogs" is part of the School Age Summer Reading program series and is designed for rising 1st through 5th graders, though all ages are welcome. This outdoor show lasts approximately 45 minutes. Pandemic restrictions as outlined by then-current Executive Orders will be in effect.
