Advisory Boards

More than 300 citizens serve on the advisory boards that advise County Government and local agencies on many topics, and we are always looking for new members to fill vacancies. A listing of Advisory Boards, Members, Vacancies, and Applications can be found on this page. 

General Information

Rowan County needs you!  We hope that you will take the time to look at the various advisory boards and their meeting schedules to determine what time commitment is involved and how you can get involved. Advisory board meeting schedules vary and are open to the public. Attending one of the meetings may assist you in learning more about an advisory board's function.

Appointment Process

Submitted board applications are considered by the Board of Commissioners during the first meeting in the month.  Applications must be received by the Clerk to the Board by 5 p.m. the second Friday prior to the meeting. Please feel free to contact the Clerk to the Board at 704-216-8180 with any questions. After the Commission meeting, all applicants are notified of the Board's decision.
