Train Ride Closed Until Further Notice

Statement on Train Ride at Dan Nicholas Park:
Rowan County Government has made the decision to close the three vintage miniature trains at Dan Nicholas Park effective immediately. There was an accident on August 12, 2024 that caused one of the train cars that was carrying adults and children to come off the track. No serious injuries were reported on the incident reports collected by staff. Dan Nicholas Park Maintenance Staff and the Division of Elevators and Amusements with the North Carolina Department of Labor have investigated the accident. Rowan County will explore replacing the trains and track with newer equipment.
