  4. Town Creek Clean-Up

    Join us for a clean-up of Town Creek in the heart of Salisbury. We will be cleaning a 1/2-mile stretch of stream that passes through the heart of Salisbury and flows to High Rock Lake. Participants should meet at the gazebo at Town Creek Park; parking is located along E. Monroe Street. Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring bug-spray and sunscreen. Bottled water, gloves, trash grabbers, and trash bags will be provided. There will also be give-aways. This event is hosted by City of Salisbury Stormwater Division and co-sponsored by Cheerwine. #rowancreekweek

  5. Harvesting Rainwater Workshop

    For Rowan County Creek Week, Happy Roots hosts a DIY rain barrel workshop to help educate the community on how to conserve and harvest rain water as a sustainable way to water their garden. Participants will also learn how to create other garden projects such as a bee water station and garden rain chains. This workshop is FREE and rain barrels will be available for purchase.     Join us for an easy 2 mile hike at the Fred and Alice Stanback Educational Forest and Nature Preserve (Spencer Woods) in downtown Spencer. We will walk the trail and point out unique flora and fauna along the way. Please wear tennis shoes or hiking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and bug spray.   12. Eagle Point Clean-Up

    Join us for a community clean-up at Eagle Point Nature Preserve located along the shores of High Rock Lake on Saturday, August 29th from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring bug spray and sunscreen. Gloves, trash grabbers, bags, and other supplies will be stationed at the trailhead near the parking area. If you rather participate in the clean-up on your own, this event will also be asynchronous, meaning participants can come any time throughout the weekend (Friday-Sunday) while the park gates are open. There will be supplies and a dump truck at the trailhead all weekend for participants to drop off their collected litter. This event is hosted by Muddy Sneakers and co-sponsored by Rowan County Environmental Management. Rowan County Ducks Unlimited will also be assisting with the event to help pick up trash from the water. #rowancreekweek
