Board of Health
North Carolina General Statues § 130A-35: Per North Carolina General Statues, Rowan County Public Health is overseen by a Board of Health. The members of a county board of health shall be appointed by the county board of commissioners. The board shall be composed of 11 members. The composition of the board shall reasonably reflect the population makeup of the county and shall include: one physician licensed to practice medicine in this State, one licensed dentist, one licensed optometrist, one licensed veterinarian, one registered nurse, one licensed pharmacist, one county commissioner, one professional engineer, and three representatives of the general public.

The Rowan County Board of Health provides and encourages the provision of quality public health programs that protect and promote health, prevent and control disease, reduce and rehabilitate disability, and establish and maintain a healthy lifestyle and a safe environment.
Meetings Time & Place (CHANGE) The Board of Health meets quarterly on the 2nd Monday of that month. In-person meetings have resumed at the DSS Community Room at 1813 E Innes St. Salisbury, NC 28146 Board Meetings are live via Zoom.
