Planning Board
The Planning Board is a nine member appointed advisory body making recommendations to the County Commissioners regarding a variety of land use related topics including rezoning and ordinance text amendment requests.
Meetings
The Planning Board meets on the Fourth Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the J. Newton Cohen Sr. Meeting Room on the second floor of the J. Newton Cohen, Sr. Rowan County Administration Building located at 130 W. Innes Street in Salisbury. Meeting's are conducted in accordance with the Planning Board's Rules of Procedure (PDF). Any member of the community that would like to speak during the Public Comment time or a Courtesy Hearing should review the Planning Board's Rules of Procedure (PDF) prior to the meeting for important instructions. Nine members are appointed by the Board of Commissioners for three-year terms. Members should have knowledge and an interest in planning for the growth of the County.
