First Grade Programs

Down to Earth

What child doesn’t like to get their hands dirty once in a while? In this program kids get hands-on while observing the properties of different soil types. They will examine rocks and minerals, and learn what makes soil and why soil stewardship is important. Kids will meet some wiggly friends from the worm farm to help them understand animal needs, and ways humans can positively impact the environment.

All Things Are Connected

In this program students will learn about the interdependence of plants and animals in their unique ecosystems across North Carolina. We will play games and do activities that help us define habitat, food webs, and natural resources. Students will learn ways in which we impact the environment both positively and negatively and ways we can provide protection for the environment.
