Addressing Mental Health Health Needs in Rowan County-Together
Mental health is a vital component of overall community well-being and has been selected as a priority health issue in the resent Community Health Needs Assessments. That’s why we’ve brought together a diverse group of partners through our Mental Health Collaborative—a dedicated effort to address mental health challenges in Rowan County using the Collective Impact Model.
This model allows us to harness the strengths of multiple sectors—healthcare providers, schools, nonprofits, local government, faith communities, and grassroots organizations—to align efforts, share resources, and drive real, measurable change.
Our Approach: Collective Impact for Collective Change
The Collective Impact Model is built on the idea that real solutions to complex problems require broad cross-sector coordination. Our Mental Health Collaborative follows this framework to:
Build a shared understanding of mental health needs across Rowan County
Establish common goals and priorities, informed by data and community voice
Coordinate programs and services to reduce duplication and close service gaps
Measure progress together, using shared metrics to track outcomes and improve strategies
What We're Working On
Our Mental Health Collaborative is actively addressing the following priorities:
Improving access to care by expanding mental health resources in schools, primary care settings, and community hubs
Reducing stigma through public awareness campaigns and mental health literacy initiatives
Supporting youth and families by connecting them with early intervention services and prevention programs
Training frontline professionals in trauma-informed care, mental health first aid, and crisis response
Promoting resilience and well-being through community events, peer support networks, and inclusive spaces for healing
