Surrender Policies

We can only accept stray and owner-surrendered animals from Rowan County.
Notice: Due to the large amount of stray cats and kittens arriving in the shelter, we are temporarily limiting stray cat surrenders to 1 cat per household per day. Thank you for understanding.
Owner surrendered pets are accepted by appointment only as space allows. Please contact us to schedule. Each owner surrendered animal must arrive at the shelter on time with 1 completed Owner Surrender Questionnaire Form per animal.

We encourage everyone to consider the Shelter as a last option for surrendering their pets, as finding adoptive homes is never guaranteed. Please see the links below for alternatives to surrendering your pet to the animal shelter.
