Rowan County Telecommunications is a Department of the Rowan County Government providing enhanced 911 and public safety dispatch services. Our county has a population over 150,000 and is situated along Interstate 85, centrally between Charlotte and Greensboro. The county is located about 40 miles northeast of Charlotte, and about 35 minutes southwest of Winston-Salem.
The county utilizes a state-of-the-art centralized communications system for all public safety agencies with telecommunications nationally certified in Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), and a modern digital 800MHz, 20-channel trunked radio communications system.
Employees are hired by the county and work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule. All potentials must submit an application on a county provided form (available below).
Applicants are placed into a pool and are given an entrance exam and an oral interview and then placed into a secondary level pool for employment consideration as vacancies occur. Individuals selected for secondary level interviews will have their references and records checked. If an offer of employment is made, substance abuse testing will also be performed.
If you have any questions regarding employment, please either email Allen Cress or email Lonnie Owens.
